11. Turf Alternatives

Interpretive Intent: Grasses take tremendous amounts of water so replacing them with alternative plant materials can result in significant water savings. Radiating panels of different types of ground covers swing around the bend in the path.

Exhibit Design: Using the exact same size of panels different selections of turf alternatives will be demonstrated and monitored. Large graphic percentage numbers will show visitors the comparisons starting with an example that uses very little water transitioning to ones that need more making it extremely evident which are a little bit thirsty to those that are moderately thirsty.
