13. Irrigation Hardware

Interpretive Intent: There are a dizzying host of irrigation manufacturers and equipment – so many parts that a visit to the irrigation section of the hardware store can end up a confusing experience. How do you know that you are getting the needed parts to build an automatic valve manifold, spray head assembly or drip emitter array? This hands on display will give people the confidence for them to work on or install their own irrigation system.

Exhibit Design: A series of five large trays cantilevered off the wall contain parts that can be assembled “lego style” to easily make the irrigation assemblies (valve manifold, swing joint, etc.) permanently mounted on each bin in both assembled and exploded views An hour-glass type timer will be set at each display station to encourage people to compete against time to complete each assembly.
