6. Signature Soils

Interpretive Intent: This exhibit will show just what different horizons of soil look like with a cut-a-way wall into the hillside. Demonstrating top soil, sub soils etc. will explain what you will encounter as you dig into the landscape.

Exhibit Design: Three basic types of soil exist: sand, silt and clay, each classified by particle size and origin. Buckets hang off the wall to let visitors feel the solidness of clay to the crumbling aspects of sand. This hands-on exhibit will most certainly get your hands dirty.
