24. Moving Day

Interpretive Intent: Smaller shrubs and trees can be successfully transplanted from one area of the landscape to another if proper techniques are used. Caring for the roots during the transplant process is of the utmost concern.

Exhibit Design: Whimsical 3/D cut-out shrubs will show each proper step. This exhibit will demonstrate how a medium sized shrub is transplanted in three steps. The first step is to dig a hole all the way around the root ball of the plant. The next step shows how to dig under the root ball, place burlap under the plant and wrap the root ball. The third step demonstrates how to carry the plant out of the hole to bring it to the desired area for relocation.
